Janet, I think you created a widescreen, but exported it as 4:3 or vice versa. After you run Schoology for a while I would like to know if it truly is a robust resource. Have a great year!
I love the goals you have set out for yourself after CEP 812 comes to an end. Self directed learning, in my opinion, is the way to go when it comes to learning how to use new technology tools to their fullest potential. I appreciate that you are planning on sharing what you have learned about Schoology with your administration and colleagues. I agree, it would be a terrific learning tool when your school begins its 1:1 initiative. Just wondering if you had considered "Flipping" your classroom? Your interest in using videos, blogs, and audio; plus, creating a hybrid class - this would be right up your alley.
One thing I'm rather concerned about with 1:1 programs is that students can quickly become islands unto themselves. Teachers really need to work hard to make sure that collaborative work is still central in the classroom. If every student is constantly using their own device, it can become really isolating.
I think the iPads have a lot of potential to help students construct knowledge and teachers to re-imagine many aspects of their classrooms. I really enjoyed working on the group project together so that each of us could benefit from each others research and work.
Good luck with your grant writing, 1:1 program, and integration efforts... Perhaps we'll meet up in another MAET class...
After one week of having our school 1:1 I am confident you will find that the iPad will be a powerful tool. There are so many apps for so many occasions. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that the iPad will never replace the laptop or computer.
Don't know what happened to my first slid...my underlining does get better in the next segments. Janet
